A Message from The Executive Director, Jodee Hoover
It is with great disappointment that I inform you that our 2020 RMHF Fire & Ice Gala will not go on as planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
-Dearest Our Community, Sponsors, and Supporters:
It is with great disappointment that I inform you that our 2020 RMHF Fire & Ice Gala will not go on as planned. Having conversed with local parish and health officials concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been decided in the best interest for our community, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters that we move forward in a nontraditional manner and continue to apply social distancing. This being said we have decided to cancel our 38th annual Richard Murphy Hospice Gala.
Having said that, we will move forward with the car raffle and silent auction within the first week surrounding our canceled event date of August 8th. Our main concern is for the community to recover. Each and everyone plays a major support in the functioning of The Richard Murphy Hospice House. We cannot tell you how thankful we are to the continuation of sponsorships and donations for the house even with the cancellation of this year’s Gala.
On a side note, we have been in contact with our venue, Chappapeela Sports Park, and other major vendors and have secured the date of April 17, 2021, for next year's gala!
Again, I am saddened to have to deliver this news. It has not been an easy decision for us to make, but it is in the best interest of our community. I would like to thank each and every one of you for the continued support of the Richard Murphy Hospice House. I look forward to celebrating in April with you and focusing on why we all come together for such a good cause benefiting so many people.
If you would like information on donating to the silent auction or to purchase a car ticket, please call The Richard Murphy Hospice House at 985-340-0860.
Please continue to stay safe and well.
Here is a hint of the theme for next year’s gala: “Not all treasure is silver and gold mate.”
